Title: On global solvability of one-dimensional nonlinear wave equations

Abstract:
The talk discusses global solvability of the Cauchy problem for one-dimensional nonlinear wave equations. We prove that this problem has a unique maximal solution in the class of multivalued solutions. This solution has the property of completeness, similar to the corresponding property of solutions of the Cauchy pro blem for ordinary differential equations.
