We start by recalling some basic facts on Dirac structures and then discuss recent results by A. Barakat, A. De Sole, and V.G. Kac on the Magri scheme for Dirac structures, publised in paper "Poisson vertex algebras in the theory of Hamiltonian equations", arXiv:0907.1275
